All about Kek Lapis Sarawak

It is a tradition in Sarawak, Malaysia to serve Sarawak Layered Cakes on special occasions. In the Malay language they known as Kek Lapis Sarawak, Kek Lapis Moden Sarawak, Kek Sarawak or Kek Lapis. They are often baked for religious or cultural celebrations such as Eid ul-Fitr, Christmas, Deepavali, birthdays and weddings.

People in Malaysia practice an open house on festival day. A unique feature of Sarawak's open houses is the modern layered cakes.

Modern Sarawakian layered cakes were introduced to the people of Sarawak from Indonesia officially around 1988. The Indonesian version has been known since the Dutch colonial era; its most famous varieties are the Lapis Legit, a spice-flavored multilayered cake, and Lapis Surabaya.

Puan Rabiah Amit is well-known in Malaysia as an expert in making modern Sarawakian layered cakes. Around the year 2000, Puan Rabiah Amit introduced this cake to the whole of Malaysia. She also wrote her own recipe book, Kek Lapis Sarawak, which was published in the year 2003. Her journey in introducing this modern layered cakes in Bintulu, Sarawak began in 1989. Sarawakian modern layered cakes can be divided into two categories: cakes with ordinary layers and cakes with patterns, motifs, or shapes. All must have at least two colors. The cake can be baked in an oven or microwave. The batter uses butter or vegetable oil, milk and eggs, and requires a strong arm or electric mixer to be properly prepared. The baked cake has a high, firm texture and the layers are fastened together with jam or a similarly sticky sweet substance. More detailed cakes often require special moulds to maintain the perfect layer thickness.

Kekeliruan Kek Lapis Berasaskan Butter atau Marjerin

Terdapat kekeliruan berhubung harga kek lapis sarawak yang ditawarkan di Bazaar ramahan Saberkas 2009. Ada yang sinis madah kek mek urang mahal. Auk, nang mahal sebab kamek urang mekey butter Golden Churn. Ia bagi mendapatkan rasa yang sedap, aroma yang enak..barulah ada kick! Lagipun, each colour mesti ada perisa..for example, colour green = perisa pandan dan sebagainya. Kalau nak kenal perbezaan antara kek menggunakan butter/ marjerin, sila lihat tekstur kek, kalau tekstur nya kasar/ kek nya keras makey majerinlah kek ya..mun kek nak makey butter, tekstur nya halus dan kek nya agak lembut...baunya pun harum..Harap2 kitak urang fahamlah..xtauk lagik geney mauk explain..Mostly previus customer, alhamdulillah berpuas hati dengan kek mek urang.. Lagi satu..jangan mudah tertipu dengan kek sangat murah, mungkin ada kecacatan disebaliknya..for example kek ya mungkin dah lamak di luar/ lelong sebab sik laku..Ada customer selalu mengadu kat mek urang,ada orang jual kek yang dah bertali, keluar kulat dan macam-macam lagi. Ya wallahualam, sik berani kamek urang mauk komen..takut ada urang yang kecik ati kelak..Ok lah. walau apa pun " BE SMART CONSUMER". Jumpa lagi !

Sebarang pembelian melebihi 2 kek akan mendapat DISKAUN RM RM...Jadi, tunggu apalagi? Cepat kunjungi kami sekarang sebelum ada yang kecewa. Kami akan berada di sana bermula jam 3.30 petang sehingga jam 8.30 malam.

Jualan Kek Lapis @ Bazaar Ramadhan Saberkas Miri

Bermula 4 - 18 September, kami mengadakan Jualan Kek Lapis Sarawak secara 'Cash & Carry' di lokasi Bazaar Ramadhan Saberkas di Tapak Pasar Tani Saberkas Miri, Lot Tapak No. 41-43. Pelbagai jenis kek lapis boleh di dapati digerai seperti Kek Lapis Bercorak (cantum), Kek Lapis Roll, Kerepek, Biskut, Dodol dan sebagainya. Semua kek berukuran 9 x 9 inci. Terdapat juga kek 1/2 acuan 4 1/2' x 9 ' dengan harga berpatutan. Semua kek adalah 100% mentega tulen (Golden Churn Butter) bagi menjamin kualiti dan rasa yang sedap. Tiada campuran marjerin. 'Reservation' diterima tertakluk kepada stok yang masih ada. Siapa cepat, dia dapat!
